LUMBAR INTRADISCAL THERAPY
LUMBAR INTRADISCAL THERAPY
Lumbar disc disease potentially may respond to intradiscal injections Alpha 2-macroglobulin (A2M) is a biologic treatment for disc degermation that is found in your own blood stream and has several important roles for orthopedic conditions. The protein A2M is a naturally occurring plasma glycoprotein whose principal activity is to counter act the enzymes called proteases which break down that destroy the lumbar disc.
A2M limits disc collagen degeneration and may be potential therapy for early symptomatic disc disease. Recently, a new method of collecting alpha-2 macroglobulin from your own blood is collected, processed and filtered. This concentrates your own A2M that can be directly injected into the center of your Lumbar disc. Up to 50% of patients may feel relief of their back pain over a few months.
